Can I pick up my cake?
Eat Cake is a delivery-only business giving you one less thing to worry about on the day of your event.

    Where are you located?
We operate from a commercial kitchen in Newburyport, MA. We do not have a retail location. This allows us to focus our costs on providing you the highest quality ingredients.

How much notice do you need when ordering a cake?
For party cakes, we ask for at least 48 hours notice. For wedding cakes, it is important to secure your date with us as soon the date is set! We require at least 4-6 months notice but please call or email us to find out our availability.

Is there a charge for delivery?
The delivery charge is included in our pricing for a small delivery area on the north shore of MA which is comprised of Newburyport, Amesbury, Newbury, West Newbury, Salisbury.

$25 Within 40 Miles of Boston, MA
$50 Beyond 40 Miles of Boston, MA

    What are my payment options?
At this time, we are only equipped to accept cash or a personal check. Checks may be made out to: Eat Cake! For Party cakes, payment is always required upon delivery.

What is your payment policy for wedding cakes?
We require a 50% deposit once we have secured the date and design of the cake. The balance is due within a week of the wedding date.

    Do you make theme cakes?
Yes, but our specialty is in creating decadent and sinfully delicious looking cakes - with a flavor to match.

Do you make cakes for people with specific allergies?
Absolutely! Give us a call to let us know what allergies you are concerned with and we will work with you to create a wonderful cake or, should it be necessary, another type of dessert altogether.

Are the flavors you've listed my only options?
Our flavor menu is not set in stone. We add and subtract flavors all the time so please feel free to challenge us with a new flavor.

    Do you ship your cakes?
We do not ship our cakes. However, we will deliver to any location within MA.

How much do your cakes cost?
Because each of the cakes we create for our clients is one-of-a-kind, we do not have a uniform price list. We price our cakes based on the intricacy of the design requested, the ingredients required and the number of people being served. Our pricing ranges from $4-$8 per serving for our Party Cakes. Our wedding cakes begin at $5 per serving and range up to $12 per serving.

    Do you offer tastings?
Yes, we offer tastings for wedding cakes only. Please contact us to arrange an initial consultation and from there we will make a date for the tasting. Weekends are typically very busy for us and therefore our tastings are scheduled during the week.

Do you have a brochure that you can mail to me?
We have designed our website to serve as our brochure. Email us to let us know about your upcoming event and what you have in mind for it. We will then call you to discuss your options and perhaps to arrange a meeting. If it is a wedding cake you desire, the first step is always to arrange for a consultation.

Do you make individual cakes or cupcakes?
Yes! Mini cakes are a very popular item for parties and weddings alike, and cupcakes are a welcomed addition to any party.

How do you cut a large or tiered cake?
Download the Wedding Cake Cutting Guide.

Are your cakes made fresh or frozen?
Fresh, fresh, fresh! We will only freeze our cakes if they will be traveling a great distance in a car or subjected to high temperatures for a lengthy amount of time prior to being cut.

When using fresh flowers on a cake, are there any that cannot be used?
YES! Download the Edible & Poisonous Flower Guide.

Can you offer me any assistance in planning my event?
Of course! With our numerous contacts, partners and experience with event planning we will help you to create a most spectacular event.

    What is Fondant?
Fondant is a sugared dough that is most often used with wedding cakes. Rolled out like pie dough, fondant is placed over a cake that has already been frosted with buttercream creating a pristine finish that can be tinted to match any bride's color palette or left in its natural pure white.

    What is Ganache?
Ganache is a mixture of chocolate and heavy cream used as a filling or a frosting. Most often, ganache is poured over a cake to create a perfectly shiny and flawless finish.

    What is Buttercream Frosting?
Buttercream frosting is the most popular and most luscious of all frosting. We use a swiss buttercream here at Eat Cake which starts from a meringue (cooked sugar and egg whites) to which lots of butter is added.

    What is Marzipan?
Marzipan is dough made primarily from ground almonds and sugar. It can be used in a variety of ways. From covering a cake (much like we would do with Fondant), to shaping it into fruits or other designs for decoration on a cake, marzipan is versatile but not for everyone. The almond flavor is quite distinctive.

    What is Gum Paste?
Gum Paste is a pliable mixture that can be used to shape flowers, favors, and all kinds of fancy shapes. Gum Paste decorations are edible; however, they are seldom eaten because they dry very hard.
