- How much notice do you need when ordering a cake?
- For Party cakes, we ask for at least 48 hours notice. For Wedding cakes, it is important to secure your date with us as soon the date is set! We require at least 4-6 months notice but please call or email us to find out our availability.
- What are my payment options?
- Cash or check. Checks may be made payable to Eat Cake! For Party cakes, payment is always required upon delivery or in advance of delivery.
- What is your payment policy for wedding cakes?
- We require a 50% deposit once we have secured the date and design of the cake. Payment-in-full is due one month prior to the wedding date.
- Do you make theme cakes?
- Yes, but our specialty is in creating decadent and sinfully delicious looking cakes - with a flavor to match.
- Do you make cakes for people with specific allergies?
- Please call to speak with us about your requirements.
- Do you ship your cakes?
- No, we do not ship our cakes.
- How much do your cakes cost?
- Because each of the cakes we create for our clients is one-of-a-kind, we do not have a uniform price list. We price our cakes based on the intricacy of the design requested, the ingredients required and the number of people being served.
- Do you offer tastings?
- We offer tastings for Wedding cakes only. Please contact us to schedule a consultation.
- Are your cakes made fresh or frozen?
- Fresh, fresh, fresh! We never freeze our cakes.
- Can you offer me any assistance in planning my event?
- Of course! With our numerous contacts, partners and experience with event planning we will help you to create a most spectacular event.
- What is Fondant?
- Fondant is a sugared dough that is most often used with wedding cakes. Rolled out like pie dough, fondant is placed over a cake that has already been frosted with buttercream creating a pristine finish that can be tinted to match any bride's color palette or left in its natural pure white.
- What is Ganache?
- Ganache is a mixture of chocolate and heavy cream used as a filling or a frosting. Most often, ganache is poured over a cake to create a perfectly shiny and flawless finish.
- What is Marzipan?
- Marzipan is dough made primarily from ground almonds and sugar. It can be used in a variety of ways. From covering a cake (much like we would do with Fondant), to shaping it into fruits or other designs for decoration on a cake, marzipan is versatile but not for everyone. The almond flavor is quite distinctive.
- What is Gum Paste?
- Gum Paste is a pliable mixture that can be used to shape flowers, favors, and all kinds of fancy shapes. Gum Paste decorations are edible; however, they are seldom eaten because they dry very hard.
